Results were...mixed, I guess. The question everyone viewing a listing like this wants answered is, Do they work? Based on my husbands experience, I would say the answer is, Yes. But...
While wearing these glasses, he could pass the color blindness tests in the little booklet that was included. He thought that was pretty neat, because, just by toggling between glasses on and glasses off, he was able to see what he hadnt been able to before, and exactly how what youre supposed to see is different than what he usually sees. So then we wondered, was it just the booklet that came with the glasses, or ANY color blindness test? He looked up some similar tests on the computer and found he had the same experience. So when it comes to looking at those dot tests, yes, these do work.
But real-world experience wasnt quite so cut and dry. The glasses cast everything as red. Like, really, really red. So red looked more distinctively, vibrantly red, as opposed to the muted color he normally recognizes as red. Green appears darker, which helps distinguish it from red.
But his question is a valid one: Is it worth it to wear these if EVERYTHING is just super red? Ive worn rose-tinted sunglasses before and the effect is similar, at least to me (but Im not colorblind). It is distracting, and youre always aware that youre seeing things differently than normal. And the lenses appear bright red from the outside, which definitely makes it obvious that these arent just normal sunglasses. (Which, OK, unless youre aiming for subtlety.)
So, yes, at the most basic level, these do work. But are they practical, or something one would want to wear for more than just a couple minutes at a time, at home? I would say no, probably not.
He loved going through the booklet and asking us what we saw in the pictures and then taking the glasses on and off to see the difference. He wore them everywhere for days.
I'm sure these kinds of glasses are a bigger deal for those who are fully color blind, but they were so much fun for him, and he loves them.
